Our products are processed and stored in next-generation facilities, enabling us to bring them to the consumer with optimum hygiene and perfectly packaged, from the starting point in the processing plants, through transportation, to our facilities in Spain.
Facilities in Spain
In Spain we have cold storage facilities with adjustable temperatures to suit the product, from +0.5 ºC for green asparagus to +10 ºC for tree-ripened mangoes. Our facilities are equipped with ozone and humidity sensors, and monitored 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, by quality control personnel who analyse all the products we distribute, issuing meticulous reports for farms and clients.
Forced-air cooling tunnel
Our cooling tunnel enables us to lower the temperature of newly arrived produce so it reaches the shops in optimal temperature conditions and freshness.
How our products are handled and processed
Our warehouses are HACCP certified, and are approved for processing foods, which is always done in compliance with the schedules and requirements of our clients.

All our products are distributed in refrigerated trucks which maintain the cold chain from our warehouses to the client.
Facilities in Latin America. Processing asparagus
Green asparagus is selected by hand
As it arrives at the processing plant, our asparagus receives its first treatment with disinfection and cleaning in a wash tunnel.
It is then trimmed, sorted and packed in bundles, discarding any product which does not meet the high quality standards of García Mateo & Sinova and therefore cannot be distributed under our GM and Tucano brands.
Finally the asparagus is hydro-cooled by immersion for 20 minutes in treated cold water to cool it and keep it fresh.

All the asparagus bundles are wrapped, identified and labelled. This enables us to track them from harvesting to the end consumer, a process known as TRACEABILITY.

Finally, our green asparagus is packed in its recognisable boxes, reaching the markets and the consumer in optimal conditions of quality and presentation.
Our other products
Strawberries, mangoes, figs, snow peas and extra-fine green beans also receive stringent quality and hygiene treatments in the processing plants, staying within the cold chain at all times.
